Wow, really? Wow, I would have thought we'd pull in less, what with this being my first time running something like this and.... ah... certain people apparently not liking the idea. |

Well, since it was open to the general public rather than just DPOC, that's actually not a surprise. I'm sure we got several submissions from non-members, right? |

I agree with GW. This is a terrific turnout, especially since this time of year is extremely busy for many. You guys did a terrific job organizing this and getting the word out...Kudos!! ^__^
Plus, I'm sure there are many where this is the first time participating in a project like this. ;o) |

Man, I owe it to you folks for spreading the word- Feri especially. At least 1/4 of the total entries so far have come from members of the Latin Nick boards!
And right now we're juuuuust shy of 50 entries |

Well, I start putting the poster together tomorrow. (Okay, technically later today, but...)
At the moment the total is 54 entries. Late entries will be accepted while I'm still working on the poster, but ideally I will be sending it to the printer no later than the 19th, so I should be done putting it all together no later than the 18th, and possibly sooner than that.
54 entries, representing the United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Puerto Rico, Australia, I think the United Kingdom, and various other South American countries who's names currently escape me. ^^;
Awesome work guys! |

It's certainly kicking my poor computer's ass! The file size with all 54 entries arranged is 123 MB, and has a print size of 28x19 inches. And that's not counting the border that I still need to put on it! I had to play some creative computer memory management just to SAVE the file toward the end!
Now that the entries are all arranged (Tetris game from HELL, I swear!), tomorrow I'm going to head down to the frame place and figure out what standard frame size is closest to the current size. The border will then pad the poster size to fit said standard size, because I reaaally don't want to have to pay for a custom frame, too! Plus the border can be used to list all the communities that participated and stuff
And here's a screenshot of the completed arrangement:

Ohman it is SO T3H GORGEOUS!
Thanks for all the hard work, fury. I'm proud that we all got to participate in such a kick-ass present! ^__^ Man he's gonna enjoy it.
(I wonder if he has a wal dedicated to all the posters that the fandom keeps insisting on giving him... xD) |

IT IS DONE! My poor abused computer barely managed it, but the poster design is finalized, and I already purchased the frame for it (luck was with me, frames were on sale when I was looking! )
The print size will be 28 x 22 inches (8400 x 6600 pixels). The file size of the finalized poster is a much more manageable 35.5 MB (the file with the entries all split onto separate layers was like, 150-someodd MB )
It goes to the printer tomorrow, and hopefully it shouldn't take more than a few days to get it back and put into the frame. Looks like Butch will probably be receiving it a little tiny bit after the holidays, but I'm told he might not even be in town this week, sooo... it all works out in the end
It's been an experience and quite an honor to work with fans from all over the world, and to put everyone's efforts into something tangible like this. You guys prove that despite what some people may say about our fandom, that we can still work together to do something positive- and have fun doing it! This really is the spirit of the season, people from all walks of life coming together to share in a common goal. Hopefully I'm not just being a sentimental fruit loop here, and that everyone who's helped shares that feeling, too.
I owe many thanks to Feri, Roadrunner, and Ghostwriter56- the first for essentially being the project liason to the Latin board, and helping fans get across the language barrier to participate; the second for helping promote the project to fans that otherwise might not have heard about the project and for her welcome and much-needeed support; and the third for sharing a wealth of advice and suggestions earlier this year when the poster was still just a glimmer of an idea. You guys rock and this poster would not be possible without the support of such wonderful people. And of course, I also owe thanks to every single person who submitted an entry, helped spread the word, and otherwise make this truly a fandom-wide collaboration.
I look forward to working with everyone again on future projects.
I'll be posting a slightly better copy of the poster image file online later this week, as well as photos of the actual poster. In the meantime, here's what it looks like now:

OMG this isn't possible! I can't believe it! I knew since the very first moment that my entry was never recieved because I never got a message back nor anyting like that, I feel so bad!! I thought that maybe I was going to recieve the meend but ssage at the my entry is just not there!!
I asked in DeviantArt (I'm bluename there too) if we were going to receive a message confirming that the entry was recieved, and I don't know why I forgot that I never got one back!! Aghhh!!! I know it's my fault because I didn't say anything, ut my head was in another place because I send the entry like Dec 3, and I have been since then in Semester Finals, and I completly forgot!! All the work for nothing ¬¬ UUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! *runs away*
if anyone is curious, this was my entry:
http://bluename.deviantart.com/art/Christmas-poster-entry-71142832
off course DA resized it becuase it was too big. |

Tell you what- I have to print the story submissions separately anyway (They ARE readable on the poster itself, but you've got to get right up to it, so I'm including the stories in an envelope on the back of the frame.) There's also another art entry that I was supposed to have gotten but for some reason didn't, so I'll print yours and that one to include so that Butch gets them, even though they aren't in the poster itself.
How's that sound? |
