Collaborative Fanbook Project
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: JUNE 15, 2008
Remember several months ago when a bunch of us pooled our efforts and created a poster to send to series creator Butch Hartman? Well, we're doing it again, only this time it's a fanbook to be given to one of the unsung geniuses behind the show- former story writer Steve Marmel!
Involved Clubs/sites/communities:
Danny Phantom Online Community
DP-RealFans (DevArt)
Phanfiction Club (DevArt)
THE Danny Phantom Club (DevArt)
DP-Technus-Fanclub (DevArt)
Timekeepers (DevArt)
Entries received so far: 6
Entry requirements:
* All submissions must be rated PG-13 or lower.
* Each person's entry may take up to 5 printed pages of the book. Keep this in mind when writing stories or submitting multiple-page comics. NOTE: This means 5 pages per person. If 2 people collaborate on an entry, then that entry can go as high as 10 pages. If 3 people collaborate, then it's 15 pages; and so on.
* MINIMUM dimensions for image entries:
1,800 x 1,800 pixels (6 x 6 inches or 15.24 x 15.24 centimeters)
Remember! The larger the image file is, the nicer it will look printed!
* Accepted file types: .txt, .rtf, .doc, .abw, .html, .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .psd, .pspimage. Multi-file submissions can be sent as .zip or .rar files.
* Don't forget to sign your work! With a screen name or other psuedonym is fine if you don't want to use your real name.
* All entries must be received by June 15, 2008!
* Entries should be emailed to fanbook@dannyphantomonline.com. You should receive a response confirming that I have your entry within a week. If you haven't heard back in a week, contact me via a note on DeviantArt to FirefuryAmahira, or send a private message via the Danny Phantom Online Community. I can also be reached on AIM by the screenname FirefuryAmahira, or on Fanfiction.net by the same name.
* ALTERNATIVE means of submitting entries: You can upload your entry to a site such as Megaupload or Rapidshare, and send me the download link via one of the above mentioned methods.
FAQ
So what kind of submissions are you looking for?
Artwork and short stories or comics involving any of Steve Marmel's work. Obviously we're promoting the project primarily to Danny Phantom fans, but fans of Fairly Odd Parents are also welcome to submit work! He's currently working on Yin Yang Yo, and in the past he's done work on several shows. You can look up what he's worked on at IMDB. Something else to note is that Steve is a major fan of the Green Bay Packers (and that's why Vlad in the show is a cheesehead!) Keep in mind that Steve did NOT work on season 3 of Danny Phantom.
How many times can we enter?
For the sake of fairness, one entry per person. But you can collaborate with other artists and writers as well. Each person gets five pages to work with, be it a series of up to five pieces of fanart, or a short five page comic, or a short five page fanfic. People are encouraged to work together on entries if they want, since collaborative entries can run longer than an individual person. Ten pages for two people, fifteen for three, and so on.
By "sign your work", do you mean our real names?
It's entirely up to you whether you want to sign your real name or an online name to your work. I understand that some people (especially younger kids) need to be wary about sharing their real names on anything online with people they don't personally know. If you're comfortable enough with the poster organizer seeing your name, then sign your real name (or just first name). If you'd rather just sign with your online name, that's cool too.
Hey, I've got a club and want to be involved, too!
Great! Just contact me via one of the many ways mentioned above and let me know! To be involved, all you need to do is promote the project- let your members know about it! |

Oh you know I will be doing something Packer related....lol
Speaking of which if anyone needs help with Packer related stuff whether it's needing info or what just ask. Since apparently I'm the resident cheesehead. |

Ahaha, the deadline is my birthday! If I have time, I'll see if I can do something. I have mad respect for Steve Marmel and his awesome writing skills on DP. |

At first I didn't see how I could possibly contribute anything, as I'm not an artist and I am a little wigged out at the idea of sending fanfic to a professional writer-- kind of like sending an artist a copy of one of his paintings. But then it occurred to me: did Steve Marmel write The Ultimate Enemy? And if he did, might he enjoy The Ultimate Limerick? It's more of an homage than a copy, I think.
Or maybe I'm just deluding myself. |

Emails to fanbook@dannyphantomonline.com is the preferred means of sending your submissions. Alternatively, you can upload it to a site like Megaupload or Rapidshare, and then PM me the download link. |

How bad does it look? I just re-opened the file on my own computer and the page breaks have all shifted--the extra lines I added to make the columns line up are in all the wrong places now.
I HATE formatting columns. Hate, hate, HATE.[/b] |

Don't worry too much =p When I prep it for the book, I'll be working in Paint Shop Pro, not Word. So I'll MAKE those damn columns and breaks work right! |

I sent mine's (resized to make it bigger). Out of curiosity, how many people so far have contributed to this fanbook besides Blue and I? |

Heh, just updated my tally file for it. So far with you and Bluemoon, I've got six entries confirmed thus far, and probably another half dozen saying they're working on something.
Still working on mine, debating if I want to do a whole new piece or use one of my existing fics. (Well, the short ones at least, since obviously the epics are considerably more than 5 pages >_>; ) |

I know the feeling, my original intentions was to do a five page comic of Vlad talking/comforting [insanely] to perfect clone Danny as a sort of precursor to " Kindred Spirits" (an idea I still wanna do someday), but I usually suck at short stories because I end up making them longer and complicated. Even then, a five page comic outside of CP is almost nigh from my end since I'm pretty busy. |
